Varanasi: Sigra Police on Tuesday arrested Manoj Maurya, 28, on charges of raping multiple times, making obscene video to blackmail and threatening of dire consequences. Apart from sections of BNS, he was booked under sections of SC/ST Act.Singra police station in charge Shivanand Mishra on Tuesday said the arrest was made on a tip-off. Maurya was on police radar after complaint was received from a 22-year-old Dalit girl alleging he established physical relations with her, recorded an obscene video, threatened to circulate it and repeatedly exploited her. Besides, he used caste-based abusive language and issued death threats to the rape survivor and her family.Officials said that acting promptly after the FIR under relevant sections of the BNS and the SC/ST Act, police teams carried out raids and nabbed Maurya, resident of Manduwadih.
