Surat: Kapodra police have registered a rape case against an armed constable after a 30-year-old nurse alleged that he threatened her with circulating private photos and videos and raped her at a hotel in Surat.According to the FIR, the complainant works as a nurse at a private hospital in the city. She had met the accused, Vignesh Vasava, a native of Narmada district, a few years ago through common family acquaintances as part of a proposed marriage alliance.After a series of meetings, the two decided to get engaged and began a relationship. The relationship later ended after a dispute. In the presence of family members, it was resolved that Vasava would pay the woman Rs 8 lakh. Documents were prepared to this effect, and he allegedly made a partial payment while agreeing to pay the remaining amount in instalments.The complaint states that Vasava came to Surat on bandobust duty on May 1. He allegedly called the complainant and threatened to create a disturbance at the hospital where she worked if she refused to meet him.When she met him, he allegedly took her to a hotel and raped her after threatening to circulate photos and videos from the period when they were in a relationship, the FIR states.Kapodra police have booked the accused and are investigating the case.
