Udupi: A police team, under the guidance of Kundapur Subdivision DSP HD Kulkarni, arrested a man for allegedly posting an objectionable comment on Facebook, related to an interview with a vegetable vendor from Mangaluru’s Central Market.The accused is Prakash S,45, hailing from Bengaluru. He was arrested and produced before the jurisdictional court.

According to police, on March 4 last year, while browsing the Facebook page of a vernacular daily, a post featuring an interview with Mahammad, a vegetable vendor at Central Market was found to have received an abusive comment from a Facebook user named Hemmeya Karyakarta. In this connection, Kundapur police registered a suo motu case under Section 353(2) (statements conducing to public mischief) of the BNS and Section 66(C) of the IT Act.
