Rourkela: A 45-year-old man was arrested on Thursday for killing his wife four days ago. The accused confessed to police that he killed his wife by pressing the blanket against her face, said IIC of Raghunathpalli police station S Jhankar. The deceased, Sabita Singh (41), was living with her husband Rabindra Bahadur (45) at Ruptola here.Her brother, Khirod Singh, lodged an FIR on Monday, alleging that she was murdered by Rabindra. In his complaint, Khirod alleged that Rabindra frequently quarrelled with her, and they had a fight on Sunday night.Police sources said they received information about Sabita’s death on Monday morning, following which a police team sent the body for post-mortem. Sabita’s autopsy was done on Tuesday, and her body was handed over to her family.Her post-mortem report revealed that Sabita died due to suffocation. Police suspected Sabita was suffocated to death by her husband Rabindra. Police detained him and interrogated him on Wednesday. On Thursday, Rabindra told police that on Sunday night he asked Sabita for money to drink liquor but she refused. This led to a quarrel, and he pushed Sabita with force and she fell. After that, he pressed her face with a blanket leading to her death. Police have seized the blanket from his house.
