Varanasi: A man has been arrested for allegedly kidnapping and raping a minor girl after administering intoxicating substances and pressuring her for religious conversion in Chandauli. Assistant commissioner of police (Bhelupur) Gaurav Kumar on Thursday said the accused, Nabi Rasul (25), dumped the girl at her place in an unconscious state on Mar 8 after police started raiding his possible hideouts. The girl later revealed she was held captive and sexually assaulted. The accused had also taken videos and photos. Police swung into action after the father of the minor girl from a village in Chandauli filed a complaint with the Bhelupur police station in Varanasi. He said that his daughter had gone to Assi Ghat with her brother on March 7. When her brother returned from the market, she was missing. The family searched for her and eventually alerted the police. Before the girl was found, her father got a threatening call saying they had his daughter, would convert her, and marry her off.Later, the girl revealed that she was held captive and raped. Videos and photos were also taken. An investigation revealed the girl had got to know Rasul on Instagram.
