Prayagraj: A 52-year-old man, Suresh Patel of Kalyangarh Barna, was arrested by Pratapgarh police on the charges of assaulting an elderly person in the village on the intervening night of April 4 and 5.The victim’s wife, in her FIR registered with Hathgawon police station, asserted that an unidentified man had attempted to murder her husband by slitting his throat with a knife while he was sleeping in his home in Kalyangarh Barna village under the jurisdiction of Hathigawon police station. The assailant also struck him on the head with a stone, severly injuring him, she alleged. Upon hearing the commotion, the victim’s grandson intervened, prompting the accused to abandon the knife at the scene and flee.
