Pune: Chikhali police are searching for a father-and-son duo who duped a fabricator of Rs51 lakh on the pretext of selling him four buses. The accused showed him fake RTO documents and took money from him between 2023 and 2024. When he did not get the buses or his money, the victim lodged a complaint with the Chikhali police on Wednesday.An officer from the Chikhali police said that the complainant (50) wanted to start a travel business. In 2023, the suspects approached him and claimed that they owned four buses. “The accused showed him documents such as the RTO registration certificate and other documents. They took Rs 51 lakh from the complainant in cash and online,” the officer said.
He said that for the past one year, the victim pursued them for the buses. They avoided him by citing reasons. The complainant became suspicious and checked the documents. He found that the RTO documents were duplicates. “Despite repeated follow-ups, when he did not get his money, the victim approached the police and lodged a complaint. Investigation is underway,” he said.
