Prayagraj: A criminal identified as Shivbhola Nishad of Ghoshpur village, wanted in connection with murder of his wife, was injured and arrested by a team of Maheva Ghat police in Kaushambi district on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday.Cops said that the accused, 48 years, allegedly strangled his wife Maya Devi (45) at home in Ghodhpur village late on Monday night and escaped.As the police team was checking near Shahpur turn road, the accused opened fire on the police party when asked to surrender. He was injured when cops retaliated. The police recovered one country-made pistol of 0.315 along with two used and one live cartridge, a bike, a mobile near the spot. The injured criminal, was admitted to the district hospital for treatment.Police said that the accused was currently bailed out as he was convicted by a court in Kaushambi in connection with a 2015 murder case in August 2023. Police said that slain woman (accused wife) had taken money from locals for the bail of her husband and the couple had fight on Monday evening .
