Patna: A 38-year-old man and his three-year-old daughter died after a speeding truck hit their motorcycle on the Chakia-Jamui road in Jamui district on Monday. The man’s wife sustained serious injuries in the accident.The deceased were identified as Sushil Kumar Barnwal of Dumri village under Sono police station and his daughter, Priya Kumari. Sushil was travelling with his wife Chhaya Kumari and their daughter to Tisri in Jharkhand’s Giridih district when the accident occurred in the Takiya police station area.According to police, the speeding truck first rammed a car from behind before the driver allegedly lost control and crashed into the motorcycle carrying the family. The impact threw the riders on the road, and Sushil and Priya were crushed under the truck’s wheels, dying on the spot. Chhaya suffered serious injuries and was taken to Sono Referral Hospital before being referred to Jamui Sadar Hospital for advanced treatment.Mohd Arman Khan, who was driving the car involved in the accident, said the truck hit his vehicle from behind on a downhill stretch before ploughing into the motorcycle.Police and rescue teams reached the spot and used an earthmover to retrieve the bodies trapped beneath the truck. The operation took nearly an hour and caused a major traffic jam on the route.Batiya SHO Sujata Kumari said the bodies were sent for postmortem examination and the truck had been seized. Police have launched an investigation and are searching for the driver, who fled the scene after the accident.
