Superstar Mammootty recently visited the royal palace in Sharjah to offer his condolences following the death of Sheikh Mohammed bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi. Sheikh Mohammed bin Salem Al Qasimi was the brother of Sharjah Deputy Ruler Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem Al Qasimi.Mammootty met members of the Al Qasimi family during the visit. He conveyed his condolences and expressed his solidarity with the family during their period of mourning. According to Kerala Kaumudi, Mammootty visited the palace last Friday. The actor reportedly spent around 20 minutes with the family of the late Sheikh Mohammed bin Salem Al Qasimi before leaving.
Mammootty meets members of Sharjah royal family
During his time at the palace, Mammootty also met several members of the Sharjah royal family. He personally conveyed his condolences to Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem Al Qasimi following the passing of his brother.Mammootty also met Sheikh Salem bin Abdulrahman Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Ruler’s Office. Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Salem Al Qasimi and Sheikh Faisal bin Khalid Al Qasimi were also among those he met.The UAE observed a three-day official mourning period following the death of Sheikh Mohammed bin Salem Al Qasimi. Mammootty’s visit came during his stay in Sharjah.
Mammootty in UAE for stage show
Mammootty had travelled to the UAE to participate in a stage show held in Sharjah. Producer Anto Joseph and expatriate businessman V.T. Salim accompanied the actor during his visit. The actor has maintained a long-standing connection with the UAE. Mammootty has also shared a warm relationship with the country over the years.
Mammootty and Adoor Gopalakrishnan reunite
On the work front, Mammootty is preparing for ‘Padayaatra’, his fourth collaboration with acclaimed filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan. The makers recently released the trailer for the upcoming movie. Mammootty plays a doctor in the film who comes under police scrutiny. ‘Padayaatra’ also marks Adoor Gopalakrishnan’s return to filmmaking after nearly a decade.The actor and filmmaker first joined forces for ‘Anantaram’ in 1987. They later collaborated on ‘Mathilukal’ in 1990 and ‘Vidheyan’ in 1994.Mammootty won National Awards for his performances in both ‘Mathilukal’ and ‘Vidheyan’. ‘Padayaatra’ is Adoor Gopalakrishnan’s first directorial project after ‘Pinneyum’. The filmmaker’s last movie was released in 2016 and featured Dileep and Kavya Madhavan in the lead roles.
