The rebel faction, led by Arup Roy, has been allotted the name “Democratic Trinamool Congress” and the envelope symbol.

Both groups will be treated as recognised political parties in West Bengal, Meghalaya and Tripura, according to an Election Commission order.
The development follows the Commission’s September 17 order freezing the use of the “All India Trinamool Congress” name and its reserved “Flowers & Grass” symbol by both factions until it decides the dispute.
The dispute has a direct bearing on the by-elections to the Rejinagar and Nandigram Assembly constituencies in West Bengal, as well as the Nagaon parliamentary constituency in Assam.
Mamata group gets ‘Mamata All India Trinamool Congress’
The Commission said both groups had been asked to submit three preferred names and three free symbols from which it could make allocations.Following their submissions, the Mamata-led faction was allotted “Mamata All India Trinamool Congress” and the “Football Player” symbol.
The Arup Roy-led faction was allotted “Democratic Trinamool Congress” and the “Envelope” symbol.
The Commission said the allocation was necessary because candidates from both factions had already filed nominations claiming to represent the All India Trinamool Congress.
At Rejinagar, Safiuzzaman Saikh filed his nomination as a TMC candidate with a Form-B authorised by Arup Roy, while Rabiul Alam Chowdhury filed his nomination with a Form-B authorised by Mamata Banerjee.
At Nandigram, Ehteshmul Haque filed his nomination with a Form-B authorised by Roy, while Sanchita Pradhan (Dey) filed one with a Form-B authorised by Mamata.
