Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday launched a scathing attack on the ECI over administrative reshuffle, Supplementary Lists, lack of transparency in publishing the Supplementary lists, transfer of IAS and IPS officers across the state was aimed at enabling the BJP to influence the Assembly elections. Banerjee also claimed that the “Muslim women have been mercilessly deleted” from Bengal SIR.

“ECI can’t snatch away the voting rights of the people in the name of SIR. You will have to publish the supplementary voters’ list properly. You will have to make sure that every legitimate voter gets the right to vote. There have been cases where only one member of the family is in the voters’ list while four others of the same family have been struck off the list. Targeted deletion has happened. Today it has happened with one community, tomorrow it will happen with another community. They will implement NRC and send people to detention camps. I will not let that happen,” Banerjee said.

Addressing a rally at Raniganj in Paschim Bardhaman, Banerjee said the BJP has “crossed all limits” and warned them of “Lakshman Rekha”.

“Women have been targeted in SIR with Muslim women have been mercilessly deleted from the voters’ list. Tribals, Matuas, Rajbanshis – all have been targeted and deleted. Many Hindus have also been deleted from the voters’ list. Out of 220 who died due to SIR, half of them are Hindus. They try to create division in society. They try to incite violence between Adivasis and Mahatos,” Banerjee said.

“Outsiders have come in large numbers. I would urge the administration to emphasise naka checking. Money comes in vehicles of central forces. I have several documents with me. Is this the reason for changing the officers?” she said.
