Kolkata: Responding to BJP‘s “charge sheet” against the Trinamool government released by Union home minister Amit Shah on Saturday, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee asked whether “a murder plan is being hatched by BJP” against her. She said the charge sheet should instead “be framed against him (without naming anyone) for doing ‘riots’ in Gujarat”.

She was referring to Shah’s comments that Banerjee had played the “victim card” and was trying to draw sympathy from people on issues like SIR. He said she travelled in a wheelchair during the entire 2021 campaign and wore bandages on her head many a time.

Expressing doubts that there was a “big conspiracy” being hatched against her by BJP, she said: “I was injured due to BJP and with a plastered leg, travelled across the state and campaigned in the 2021 elections. Do they know how many times I was attacked and how many injuries I have received?”
She called BJP “anti-Bengali” and asserted that her party will come to power in Bengal and will also oust BJP from the Centre. While addressing a public rally in Bankura’s Raipur, Banerjee urged people not to vote for BJP, as they have snatched the voting rights of the common people. “They have deleted the names of so many Bengalis. We will win Bengal and oust BJP from power in the coming days from the Centre,” CM said. Banerjee once again raised the Bengal SIR issue and pointed out how the voting rights of the genuine voters were deleted by BJP before the elections.

She directed her party workers to hold camps to help people, whose names were not on the voters’ list, apply in the tribunals. “All tribunals have been formed in Kolkata. Where will people from the districts appeal then? We will give lawyers and free legal services to people to appeal,” she said.
