Noida: A 38-year-old was arrested for cheating people of several lakhs of rupees on the pretext of arranging overseas employment. The man was arrested near the Hindon River bridge close to Char Murti on Wednesday .Ishaq Yunus, a resident of Rampur district, had been operating a fake job racket that targeted unemployed people. He used social media advertisements to lure unsuspecting jobseekers.Acting on a tipoff and using local intelligence inputs, police arrested him. They seized forged documents such as 50 fake work permits, three agreement letters and three contract letters purportedly issued by a Maldives-based company named “Kritonika”, a photocopy of a fake Aadhaar card and three mobile phones from his possession .Police claimed that Yunus admitted to preparing and sending fabricated work permits, entry passes, agreement letters and contract documents to people and assured them of overseas employment opportunities. He reportedly charged between Rs 1.5 lakh and Rs 2 lakh from each person.Investigators said that Yunus used a fake identity to gain the trust of victims. When potential clients approached him, he introduced himself as “Santosh” and used a forged Aadhaar card bearing the fake name to maintain the deception.A case has been registered against him under sections 318(4) (cheating), 319(1) (cheating by personation), 338, 336(3), 340(2) (all of them related to forgery) and 61(2) (criminal conspiracy) of BNS at Bisrakh police station. Police officials stated that further investigation is in progress to trace possible associates and determine the full extent of the fraud network.
