New Delhi: Congress MP KC Venugopal has written a letter to Speaker Om Birla on Thursday, complaining that the joint parliamentary committee scrutinising the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill has not done enough consultations with the stakeholders, even when there is indication of the government’s intent to get the bill passed in the next Parliament session. He urged the Speaker not to take up the bill until JPC, even through an extended term, does a detailed examination and gives enough opportunities to stakeholders to place their concerns before it.”…It has, however, been learnt that no meaningful consultation with stakeholders is taking place, and that there is an intention to have the bill passed hastily in the forthcoming winter session,” he wrote.
