New Delhi: Lieutenant governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu Saturday called upon Delhi residents to lead the nation’s journey towards Viksit Bharat@2047, saying the capital should become a national model of excellence, safety and civic pride.Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ’Shakti ki Saptadhara’, Sandhu, who hoisted Tricolour at Lok Niwas on the 80th Independence Day, said the seven streams of strength — manufacturing, agriculture and food processing, technology and innovation, Gati Shakti, Raksha Shakti, green and blue economy, and India’s soft power — were highly relevant to Delhi.Delhi’s priorities include cleaning Yamuna, tackling air pollution, housing for all, affordable healthcare, safety and security, particularly of women and children, traffic management and rejuvenation of the city’s heritage, LG emphasised.He also stressed the need for seamless coordination between Union and Delhi govts, municipal bodies, neighbouring states and citizens, and called for governance rooted in ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas aur Sabka Prayas’.Delhi Assembly speaker Vijender Gupta extended Independence Day greetings to people of Delhi and called upon every Delhiite to hoist Tricolour at home and make Har Ghar Tiranga a “jan utsav”. He said Vidhan Sabha symbolised the city’s democratic legacy and national pride, and called for strengthening unity and working towards Delhi’s growth and progress.Delhi BJP president Harsh Malhotra, who hoisted the flag at the party’s state office, said the nation felt proud as Vande Mataram was sung at Red Fort for the first time. He said Prime Minister had highlighted the country’s development achievements over the past 12 years, women’s participation in nation-building through reservation, and new opportunities for youth in education and employment.Malhotra also said young BJP workers would contribute to the census exercise by ensuring proper census forms were filled out, beginning with their families.
