A major earthquake near Mindanao in the southern Philippines triggered tsunami alerts across parts of the Pacific region, with officials warning that dangerous waves were possible in several coastal areas. The quake’s epicenter was reported 13 km southwest of General Santos City, while the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said waves of up to 3 meters were possible in some locations and up to 1 meter on parts of the coasts of Indonesia and Malaysia.
