Mohali: Work on a new 700mm RCC HDP sewerage pipeline from Chawla Chowk to Mataur Chowk in Phase 7 began Friday at a cost of ₹1.45 crore. The project is expected to be completed within six months and is aimed at providing a long-term solution to sewerage problems in Phase 7, Phase 3B2 and nearby areas.Mohali MLA Kulwant Singh inaugurated the project and said residents had been facing severe inconvenience due to frequent blockages in the existing sewerage network. He said the high-capacity pipeline would significantly improve drainage and provide lasting relief to residents. According to him, the new line can serve the area for the next 60 to 70 years with proper maintenance.Kulwant Singh appreciated mayor Sarabjit Singh Samana, senior deputy mayor RP Sharma, deputy mayor Harpal Singh Channa, councillor Paramjit Singh Kahlo and municipal officials for taking up the project.He said the Punjab govt, under chief minister Bhagwant Mann, is focused on strengthening urban infrastructure and resolving basic civic issues. Development works are being undertaken across Mohali to improve public amenities and services, he added.Mayor Sarabjit Singh Samana, councillor Paramjit Singh Kahlo, senior AAP leader Kuldeep Singh Samana and other dignitaries were present at the inauguration.
