Bhubaneswar: CM Mohan Charan Majhi reached in New Delhi on a two-day visit on Tuesday and is scheduled to attend the second day of the ministry of Jal Shakti’s departmental summit on Wednesday. The summit is the first in a series of departmental consultations envisaged by PM Narendra Modi to strengthen cooperative federalism, promote greater Centre-State collaboration and accelerate implementation of national priorities.The deliberations are expected to focus on expediting ongoing water sector projects, enhancing public participation in water conservation, improving sustainability of drinking water sources and strengthening accountability in rural drinking water services. States participating in the summit, including Odisha, will share their experiences, challenges and best practices in water resource management and discuss a roadmap to achieve time-bound outcomes. The consultations are expected to culminate in action plans aimed at improving project execution, conservation efforts and service delivery in the drinking water sector.Officials said the participating states will present the key outcomes and recommendations emerging from the discussions before Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the valedictory session. The Prime Minister is expected to provide guidance on the implementation of the agreed action points and further strengthen Centre-State cooperation in the sector.
