Times News NetworkKanpur:The Chakeri police in Kanpur apprehended the primary suspect, Piyush Jaiswal, in an alleged land grab case belonging to an institution, valued at approximately Rs 2.50 crore, through forged documents. Jaiswal, a resident of Chawal Mandi in Pheelkhana, was arrested from his hideout on Sunday night after evading capture for 19 months.Authorities stated that they had been persistently conducting raids at various potential locations in their search for him. On Sunday night, they received information indicating that the suspect was near his home in Pheelkhana, prompting a police team to cordon off the area arrest him.The victim filed a report at the Chakeri police station in January 2025 against 12 individuals, which included 8 named suspects and 4 unidentified persons. Among those named were former president of the Kanpur Press Club, Avnish Dixit, and senior advocate Shailendra Pandey.It was alleged that the suspects fabricated false documents of the institution’s land, valued at around Rs 2.50 crore, and attempted to unlawfully seize it.The Chakeri police indicated that the arrested suspect is currently being interrogated and legal measures are being pursued against the other individuals implicated in the case.
