Bengaluru: Over 1,000 people gathered at Freedom Park Tuesday to celebrate the 2625th Janm Kalyanak Mahotsav on the occasion of Mahavir Jayanti. Organised by Jain Yuva Sangathan, the event kicked off around 8.30am, with a procession starting from Town Hall to Freedom Park. The procession saw performers of traditional Yakshagana and women in traditional turbans carrying kalashas. The rally blended cultural spectacle with messages of social harmony and progress. The programme, hosted jointly by the Jain Yuva Sangathan and its Seva Trust, had multiple initiatives, including health check-ups, blood donation drives and community outreach activities. “This is the first time I’m attending and it has been a good experience. I came on my father’s suggestion and got to see many cultural activities,” said Sambhav S Baid, a 20-year-old resident of RR Nagar.Nalina, a resident of Shantinagar and a native of Rajasthan, said, “The sense of unity stands out. Celebrations of this scale outside Rajasthan are impressive.”
