Thane: Tilak Nagar police have arrested three autorickshaw drivers for allegedly raping a 22-year-old woman in Dombivli within 24 hours of FIR registration. The woman, a native of Solapur who moved to the township to work for a private security agency and later started working as a beautician, was reportedly subjected to the assault on the night of March 27. According to police, the suspects leveraged a prior acquaintance with the woman to lure her to a residential flat in a locality under the pretext of a social gathering and made her consume alcohol. They then allegedly sexually assaulted her. She was also physically assaulted when she resisted, police said.The woman approached police the following day to narrate her ordeal. Recognising the gravity of the crime, senior police officers immediately dispatched special investigation teams. Through a swift coordinated effort, police managed to track down and apprehend all three suspects within 24 hours of the FIR being registered on March 28.The accused have been booked under various stringent sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including those pertaining to gangrape. They are currently in police custody.
