NAGPUR: A 21-year-old woman was allegedly forced to marry a man, who blackmailed her after raping her, and later harassed mentally and physically through black magic. Based on the complaint filed by the woman an FIR was registered at Kapil Nagar police station.According to the complaint, the survivor and main accused knew each other since school days. On November 5 last year between 2pm and 4pm, the accused allegedly called the woman near Pili River and took her to his uncle’s house. There, he allegedly forced himself on her. Two other accused, Raja Sheikh and another unidentified person, allegedly filmed the act and threatened to make the video viral if she did not concede to their demands. Later, the victim was allegedly forced to marry the main accused.The complaint stated that during her menstrual period, a ‘Baba’ performed black magic on her. Her mother-in-law, along with other family members and associates, allegedly subjected her to severe mental and physical torture.Police invoked Sections 64 (rape), 115(2), 85, 351(3) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with provisions related to eradication of superstitions.The rape accused-turned-husband was arrested on March 30. The other accused, including Raja Sheikh from Bande Nawaz Nagar, Yashodhara Nagar area, and his associate, are yet to be arrested.The survivor is undergoing counselling, said police.(The victim’s identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme court directives on cases related to sexual assault)
