ULHASNAGAR: The Maharashtra government is working towards creating a complete ecosystem for the textile sector, including initiatives for recycling and reusing textile waste, Textile Minister Sanjay Savkare said while visiting the concluding day of the Ulhasnagar Garments Fair (UGF) 3.0 on Friday.Accompanied by BJP MLA Kumar Ailani, BJP district president Rajesh Vadhrya and other dignitaries, the minister toured more than 170 stalls displaying a wide range of readymade garments for women, men and children. He interacted with exhibitors and manufacturers and reviewed products featuring the latest fashion trends and designs.Speaking on the occasion, Savkare said the government is committed to strengthening the textile and garment industry by promoting sustainable practices and creating a comprehensive ecosystem that supports manufacturing, recycling and value addition. He said such initiatives would benefit both the industry and the environment.The minister praised the quality, innovative designs and competitive pricing of garments manufactured in Ulhasnagar, saying the city has established a distinct identity in the readymade garment sector not only in Maharashtra but across the country. He expressed confidence that events such as the Ulhasnagar Garments Fair would inject fresh momentum into the local industry while generating new opportunities for trade, investment and employment.The exhibition, themed “Bigger, Better, Bolder,” attracted traders, wholesalers, buyers and industry representatives from across India and abroad, providing a platform to forge new business partnerships and explore the latest fashion trends and high-quality apparel.MLA Kumar Ailani said the fair has emerged as an important platform for giving Ulhasnagar’s garment industry national recognition. He said the exhibition caters to every segment of society with ladies’, gents’ and children’s wear available at prices significantly lower than those in retail showrooms. He added that the government is continuously working to provide the necessary support and infrastructure for the growth of industries and businesses.The organisers said the objective of UGF 3.0 is to take Ulhasnagar’s garment industry to the national stage and create new business opportunities for local manufacturers and exporters.BJP district president Rajesh Vadhrya said the minister’s visit had boosted the confidence of traders and manufacturers. He also recalled Savkare’s intervention in raising GST-related issues faced by garment traders, which were later addressed in the state budget.
