Mumbai: More than 40,000 patients were provided a collective financial assistance of Rs 333 crore through the Maharashtra Chief Minister’s Relief Fund in the last financial year, the state government said on Friday.

In a statement, the government said the CM Relief Fund has emerged as a crucial support system for patients, with improved processes like the establishment of district-level cells, paperless application systems and quicker disposal of applications enhancing transparency and efficiency.

These reforms and multiple channels of assistance, the pace of aid distribution has increased significantly, enabling more beneficiaries to receive timely financial help, it said.

A total of 40,776 patients received financial aid amounting to Rs 333.06 crore between April 1, 2025 and March 31, 2026, ensuring timely support to eligible and needy patients who could not avail benefits under other health schemes, it said.

Medical assistance is provided for treatment of 20 serious ailments, including cochlear implant (for children aged 2 to 6 years), organ transplants such as heart, liver, kidney and lung, bone marrow transplant, joint replacements, cancer surgeries, dialysis, neurological disorders, neonatal conditions, burns and electric shock injuries, among others.

A memorandum of understanding has recently been signed between the CM Relief Fund cell, BPCL Foundation and Tata Memorial Centre to provide support in the treatment of paediatric cancer patients under corporate social responsibility initiatives, which will help ease financial burden and improve access to quality care, the government statement said.

In Mumbai suburban district alone, 869 patients received financial assistance of about Rs 8.10 crore during the same period, it said.

The government also urged needy patients to avail the benefits of the scheme and seek more information through the toll-free helpline.
