CHANDRAPUR: In Maharashtra’s Chandrapur district, nineteen students of a Zilla Parishad (ZP) school were hospitalised after allegedly consuming an excessive number of anti-anaemia (iron) tablets without supervision, officials said on Friday. The incident occurred in Bhamdeli village. As per standard practice, students are administered iron tablets every Monday. However, some pupils reportedly took additional tablets on Tuesday when teachers were absent. By Wednesday night, all nineteen students complained of nausea and dizziness and were rushed to the Chandrapur District Hospital, said district health officer Ashok Katare. Doctors stated that sixteen students are stable, while three remain under observation. ZP Chief Executive Officer Pulkit Singh has ordered a high-level inquiry into the matter, officials added.
