Gadchiroli: Maharashtra government has proposed a 23-km four-lane bypass for Gadchiroli city to ease growing traffic congestion and support the district’s rapid industrial expansion. The project is being taken forward by the public works department and the national highways authority of india under directions of chief minister and Gadchiroli guardian minister Devendra Fadnavis.Planned about 5 to 6 km outside the city, the bypass is aimed at meeting traffic demands over the next 25 to 30 years. The new road is expected to divert heavy vehicles away from the city, improving traffic flow, reducing travel time and enhancing road safety for residents.Officials said the final alignment of the proposed route is being reviewed, with only minor modifications suggested before the proposal is sent to the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways for final approval.The project is seen as a key infrastructure initiative aimed at strengthening Gadchiroli’s transport network while also supporting future industrial and economic expansion.The progress of the proposal was also reviewed at a meeting chaired by district collector Avishyant Panda and attended by senior officials from the public works department, the national highways authority and the municipal administration.
