Nagpur: The state govt cleared special incentives for 18 industrial projects under the mega and ultra-mega category, proposing investments to the tune of Rs2.56 lakh crore along with projections of creating one lakh jobs. Of these, investments worth around Rs80,000 crore have been proposed in the Vidarbha region. This includes the second-highest proposal of Rs40,000 crore in Gadchiroli district by Rashmi Metallurgical Industries, a steel maker, which also projects to create 22,000 jobs. JSW Steel, has announced to pump in Rs1 lakh crore in an integrated steel plant in the district.The incentive packages were cleared for seven projects in all with about 40,000 jobs creation in the region. An incentive package was also cleared for Solar Defence and Aerospace Limited’s (SDAL) unit in the Mihan-SEZ for making drones and military robots. Small arms maker Tembo Defence, which has plans to manufacture pistols at Amravati, would be getting incentives for its project entailing an investment of Rs1,000 crore.ACME Cleantech would be setting up a Rs11,400 crore green energy project at Butibori. Bhandara district would be seeing a major expansion by Ashok Leyland, which first began a unit in the district in the 1980s. The company now plans to set up a Rs10,000 crore project in the district. Both ACME and Ashok Leyland projected to create 7,000 and 1,000 jobs, respectively.The state govt also cleared an incentive package for one more steel player in Gadchiroli. Hari OM Pipes Industries has proposed an investment of Rs3,135 crore in the district. The company is into making steel pipes, offering to create 800 jobs. In Chandrapur, Million Steel Private Limited’s Rs256 crore project and 350 odd jobs were also cleared for incentives.The projects were already announced. However, the state cabinet formally approved the package of incentives to the units through the cabinet decision. This means the incentives, which also include rebate from state GST, would be available as and when the industries start the project in line with the projections.
