Nagpur: Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis and Union minister for road transport and highways Nitin Gadkari on Monday condoled the death of Vicco Laboratories director Sumant Pendharkar, who passed away at the age of 82. His last rites were performed at Ambazari Ghat on Sunday. Gadkari said Pendharkar’s work reflected a blend of indigenous industry, honest entrepreneurship and social commitment. Gadkari said, “Through his vision, Vicco did not remain merely a brand but became a global identity for Indian ayurveda. His work and his value-based life will remain an inspiration for generations to come.” Fadnavis said Maharashtra had lost an accomplished industrialist with Pendharkar’s death. Fadnavis said, “On the strength of simple living and principled thinking, he gave Vicco a global flight and made a valuable contribution to the spread of ayurveda. The Pendharkar family’s contribution to the industrial, educational and cultural development of Dombivli will always be remembered.” Both leaders extended condolences to the Pendharkar family and the Vicco group. Gadkari said he stood with the family in their grief, while Fadnavis said he prayed for the strength to bear the loss.
