Madikeri: Madikeri sub-divisional assistant commissioner Nitin Chakki commenced the SIR in Kodagu district on Tuesday, visiting former minister MC Nanaiah’s residence in Madikeri, and distributed enumeration forms.In Virajpet, the enumeration forms were given to those in the voters’ list under the guidance of Virajpet taluk tahsildar Praveen Kumar. Virajpet MLA AS Ponnanna was not available in the station on Tuesday.The SIR exercise was also taken in Somwarpet, with officials visiting Madikeri MLA Manthar Gowda’s residence. Speaking on the occasion, Congress MLA said that a door-to-door survey process will be carried out till July 29. In this context, voters should participate in the registration process by providing necessary documents and information to BLOs who visit them.Our vote is what gives power to the people, he said, and asked voters to provide necessary documents and retain their right to vote. Currently, 4,68,657 voters are registered in the district, and Madikeri constituency has 2,38,447 voters, of which 1,23,316 are women. Virajpet constituency has a total of 2,30,210 voters, of which 1,17,275 are women.
