Bhopal/Jabalpur: The Madhya Pradesh high court has directed the state govt to extend the benefits of the Sixth Pay Commission and other allied benefits to teachers whose services were transferred from Panchayat Department to School Education Department, from the date of their appointment. The govt has been given four weeks to comply with the order.
The order was passed by a bench headed by Justice Deepak Khot while hearing a contempt petition. The court fixed Oct 21 for the next hearing.
Petitioner Rajesh Kumar Pandey and other teachers said they were initially appointed in Panchayat Department.
Their services were merged into the ‘Adhyapak’ cadre in 2006 and subsequently into School Education Department in 2018. Advocate Jitendra Arya, representing the petitioners, said more than 450 teachers had filed the contempt petition. He saidthe latest order has paved the way for higher-wage benefits for around 70,000 school teachers.
