Mandya: Maddur MLA Kadaluru Uday on Saturday alleged that the BJP is facing a serious leadership crisis and predicted that several opposition legislators would soon join the Congress.Speaking to reporters in Mandya, Uday said the recent legislative council election results had exposed deep internal divisions within the BJP–JD(S) alliance. He claimed that Congress candidates neither approached BJP or JD(S) legislators for support nor offered any inducements during the election process.“The election was conducted through a secret ballot, yet several opposition MLAs voted in favour of Congress. This reflects the dissatisfaction prevailing within their own ranks,” he said.According to Uday, the outcome has caused considerable embarrassment to the leadership of the BJP–JD(S) alliance. He attributed the cross-voting to internal conflicts and an alleged lack of effective leadership within the BJP. He further claimed that factionalism has intensified and alleged that many party legislators are unhappy with the functioning and leadership style of state unit chief BY Vijayendra.Stating that political alignments often change, he said several opposition MLAs were likely to join the Congress in the near future to secure their political prospects.BJP will return to power in Karnataka: Kumar BangarappaMeanwhile, former minister Kumar Bangarappa expressed confidence that the BJP would return to power in Karnataka in the 2028 assembly elections.
