T’puram: CPM state secretary M V Govindan has justified leader of opposition Pinarayi Vijayan’s remark that those who were misled by the “party’s enemies” should correct themselves and defend CPM.Govindan said there was nothing wrong with Vijayan’s speech and claimed that his public speeches in Kannur reflected the spirit of the election review report adopted by the CPM central committee.Govindan said that Vijayan had only explained how voters were misled. “Party members do not have the right to vote against party candidates. Vijayan had critically pointed out the impropriety of party workers rejecting party candidates,” he said, adding that there was no truth in the allegations that Vijayan’s arguments were contrary to the findings of the election review report adopted by the party’s central committee.The party secretary said Vijayan’s remarks reflected the party’s stand.
