Ludhiana: A violent confrontation between two groups on Friday late night in GTB Nagar, Bhamian Kalan, left two men severely injured.The injured have been identified as 25-year-old Ripul Gabba of GTB Nagar, who sustained a bullet injury to his thigh, and Rajat Verma of Bhamian Kalan, who suffered a leg fracture. According to police, Verma allegedly used his licensed firearm during the scuffle. Acting on the statement of Ripul’s brother, Ajay Gabba, the police have booked Rajat Verma and his associates under charges of attempt to murder.

Ajay Gabba alleged that the trouble began when Ripul visited a shop near a local liquor vend where the accused were consuming alcohol. The group reportedly confronted Ripul, accusing him of staring at them. Although Ripul attempted to flee the scene to avoid a conflict, the group allegedly pursued and attacked him. When Ajay and a friend intervened to rescue Ripul, the confrontation escalated as both sides engaged in a physical fight. It was during this melee that Rajat allegedly brandished his gun and fired at Ripul before fleeing.Police officials indicated that they may register a cross-FIR as the investigation progresses and more statements are recorded.
