Ludhiana: Robbers attacked a 21-year-old man on Daba Road before a few locals helped him fight back to capture three of the four assailants in a Sunday incident.Aditya of Jagtar Nagar was travelling with two friends to meet an acquaintance when four men on a motorcycle and a scooter intercepted them. The attackers brandished blades and blunt weapons, causing Aditya’s companions to flee and leave him isolated on the scene.The gang struck Aditya before they stole his mobile phone and a wallet containing ₹4,200. As the muggers attempted to escape, Aditya and nearby witnesses mobilised to block their path and restrained three suspects until the cops arrived.“When my friends ran away, leaving me on the spot to take a beating and have my belongings snatched, the locals came to my rescue,” Aditya said, being grateful for the intervention.Division Number 6 police said the arrested suspects — Gurpreet Singh, Shankar, and Prakash Bahadur — faced charges registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for snatching and acting with common intention. Inspector Gurshinder Kaur said a hunt was on for their fourth accomplice and police were looking into the criminal records of the men in custody.
