LUDHIANA: An overloaded mini truck turned over on the elevated road at Bharat Nagar chowk on Sunday morning. As a result, the sacks of wheat grain fell off the flyover and damaged vehicles plying on the road and a shop located in the chowk. At least two commuters also suffered injuries in this mishap. As the sacks of wheat grains scattered on the road beneath the flyover, the road leading from Bharat Nagar chowk towards the Ludhiana Bus Stand also got blocked. The road remained blocked till late afternoon, until the police called the labouers to lift the grain and clear the road. The road blockage also led to traffic congestion. The Division number 5 police said that the incident occurred at around 8.15. A tuck leaden with the sacks of wheat grain turned over on the elevated road at Bharat Nagar chowk, while taking a turn. The sacks fell off the flyover and damaged two cars including a Maruti Suzuki Swift and a Honda city- they were parked on the road, a bike and a shop. In this incident, two pedestrians suffered injuries. The Division number 5 police have registered a case against the unidentified truck driver under charges of reckless driving and causing hurt due to negligence.
