Kanpur: Chaotic scenes were witnessed outside several gas agencies in the city as people in a large number queued up for LPG cylinders. People started arriving at gas agencies from early hours at 5am. At the Indian Gas Agency near Pandu Nagar, LPG cylinder distribution was managed under police supervision. Waiting since 6am in long queues, many had to return empty handed as the stock finished by the time their chance came. A consumer said, “We were in queue since 6am. Eid is approaching near, and today is also Juma (Friday), yet we are stuck in the queue for LPG. The administration should improve arrangements so everyone can get cylinders before the festival.” A woman in the queue said, “We are waiting for cylinder since 5am and the distribution is being done from just one vehicle. It would be better if more vehicles are added so that everyone can get LPG cylinders timely.” At Bharat Gas agency in Kalyanpur, people lined up since early morning. They mentioned that by the time their turn arrived, the cylinders were gone, forcing them to return only to queue up again the next day. . Similar scene was outside another gas agency at Sarsaul in Narwal. Operator Umesh stated that on Thursday, 350 cylinders were delivered and distributed. On Friday, the delivery vehicle did not arrive. On being informed, senior officials said that cylinders would be sent by Friday evening or Saturday morning, he said.
