Mysuru: With the idea of further streamlining the LPG supply, the process of withdrawing the LPG cylinder delivery to those who have Piped Natural Gas (PNG) connection has been initiated in the state.According to the PNG consumers, the supply of PNG is uninterrupted amid the current LPG crisis. According to the president of Karnataka State LPG distributors’ association Mehul J Patel, the process has started in Bengaluru city. “As part of the drive, currently LPG connections are frozen in the backend. House owners will be advised to surrender the cylinder,” he explained TOI. “The distributors are yet to get any intimation regarding collecting LPG cylinders from households which have PNG connections,” he stated.“However, as per the revised rules, a customer with a PNG connection can keep a single cylinder,” he explained.In Mysuru city, currently 3,273 houses have PNG connection, with close to 1,281 homes in Ramakrishan Nagar have PNG connections.In Vijayanagara I stage, PNG connections are provided in 2nd Main, 4th Main, 5th Main, 7th Main, 8th Main, 10th Main, while in Vijayanagara II stage, houses in 20th A, B, C, D, E Main roads, 21st A, B, C Main roads, 1st Cross Road, 22nd Cross Road, 7th Main Road, 8th Main Road, 9th Main Road, 10th Main Road, 11th Main Road, 12th Main Road, and surrounding areas. A total of 461 houses are provided with PNG connection. Kuvempu Nagar has 273 connections while Hootagalli has 1,082 connections and Bogadi has 16 connections. Hootagalli Industrial Area also has 160 PNG connections.President of hotel owners’ association C Narayana Gowda said several hotels in the city also now opted for the PNG connection instead of LPG. According to him, they are receiving uninterrupted gas supply.“PNG supply is very stable. It ensured that hotels with PNG connections would function as usual. However, it is the hotels which are depending upon the LPG which are facing problems,” he said.
