Patna: Police late on Monday night busted a large-scale LPG black marketing and illegal refilling racket, operating in Nariyar area under Motipur police station in Muzaffarpur district.Suchitra Kumari, SDPO-I (west), said acting on a tip-off, a special team constituted under the direction of SSP Kantesh Kumar Mishra, raided a suspected hideout located a short distance away from the highway.“Police recovered a loaded LPG container vehicle bearing Nepal registration number, a van loaded with cylinders and a e-rickshaw used for local delivery. The raiding team also seized pipes and other equipment used for illegally refilling gas into small domestic cylinders. A total of 54 empty and filled gas cylinders were confiscated from the site,” the SDPO told the reporters on Tuesday.The illegal traders and workers present at the location managed to flee as soon as they spotted the police team. Police have taken possession of the seized vehicles and a large quantity of gas cylinders.SSP Mishra described the racket as a major nexus that possibly has international connections, particularly with Nepal. He stated that police are now working to identify the owners of the recovered vehicles and trace the leaders of the syndicate.“Efforts are underway to connect all links in the illegal operation, and the absconding accused will be arrested soon,” he said.
