Mumbai: A 46-year-old logistics company employee was killed after he was hit by a truck near the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport on Monday night. Sahar police have booked the unidentified truck driver for causing death due to neligence and rash driving.The victim, Ganesh Lotankar lived in Nalasopara East with his wife and son and had been working at Gordon Woodroof Logistics Limited at the Air Cargo Complex for the last 20 years.

In the FIR, Lotankar’s brother Santosh said that at 8.30pm he received a call from his elder brother Harish that Ganesh had met with an accident at Sahar Air Cargo Complex and he was taken to Cooper Hospital.On reaching Cooper Hospital, Ganesh’s colleague Datta Dhamale told Santosh that he and Ganesh came to the General Cargo at Sahar Air Cargo Complex at around 5:30 pm as usual to clear documents. Since his company’s pharma cargo documents were pending, Ganesh went to the Pharma Zone to clear the documents of the pharma cargo. Five minutes later, security personnel told Dhamale that his colleague met with an accident.Dhamale told the cops that when he immediately went there and checked, Ganesh was being treated by a doctor from the hospital. At that time, witnesses told Dhamale that a red Eicher company truck hit Ganesh and crushed his waist.Doctors at Cooper Hospital declared Ganesh dead before admission.Based on Santosh’s complaint, Sahar police registered a case against the truck driver for death due to rash driving under Section 106 of the BNS.“We are in the process of arresting the driver,” said a police officer from Sahar police station.
