Nagpur: Bajaj Nagar cops on Friday registered a case against a 46-year-old man for abetting the suicide of his live-in partner, a 51-year-old numerologist, Reshma Rewatkar, last week.Rewatkar, who divorced her husband in 2019, was living with accused Shashank Gajbhiye at Tatya Tope Nagar. Police said Gajbhiye repeatedly suspected her character, harassed her, beat her and subjected her to physical and mental torture.On April 9, Gajbhiye allegedly assaulted and tortured Reshma again. Unable to bear the trauma, Reshma jumped off the 2nd floor of her residence late on April 10 and died.An accidental death report was initially registered at Bajaj Nagar police station. Following a complaint by the deceased’s daughter, the police invoked IPC section dealing with abetment of suicide against Gajbhiye.
