Kanpur: A man and his alleged live-in partner were killed after being run over by the Chitrakoot Express near Ghatampur railway station on Wednesday night. Police suspect the duo died by suicide, though the exact cause of death will be established after the postmortem examination.The deceased were identified as Uday Prakash alias Sumit (26) and his paramour, both residents of Gaura village in the Ghatampur area. The woman had been reportedly living with her lover Sumit for one year after leaving her two minor daughters at her in-laws’ house.On being alerted, RPF outpost in-charge SB Singh reached the spot with his team and informed the Bhimsen police. Sub-inspector Hemant Solanki, along with his team, took the bodies into custody and recovered an identity card from the spot bearing an address in Bara Daulatpur.Based on the details found on the identity card, a police team was sent to the village, where the deceased were identified.SI Hemant Solanki said that, prima facie, the case appeared to be one of suicide rather than an accident.“However, we have not reached any conclusion. The bodies have been sent for postmortem examination. The exact cause of death will be ascertained only after the postmortem report is received and the investigation is completed,” he said.
