Rajkot: The state monitoring cell (SMC) on Tuesday seized a cache of Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) in an abandoned truck and other materials, together worth Rs 89 lakh, at a field in Ratanpar village of Botad district.Officials said 15,324 bottles of IMFL, valued at Rs 64.33 lakh, were recovered. The investigation revealed the liquor was distilled by companies in Chandigarh.Eight persons have been declared wanted in connection with the case. Among them is Vijay Boricha, a listed bootlegger from Raypar village in Gadhada taluka of Botad district, who is suspected to be the intended receiver of the liquor consignment. Uday Khachar, Hitesh Khachar and Kartik Khachar, all residents of Khambhada village in Barvala taluka, have also been named as accused.Police are searching for the owner and driver of the truck used to transport the liquor, the driver of an SUV, an unidentified worker allegedly linked to Boricha, and the supplier of the liquor.
