Ludhiana: A liquor company employee was assaulted with sharp-edged weapons and robbed of approximately ₹22 lakh in cash on Saturday night in Vishal Nagar. The victim had collected the funds for the firm and had nearly reached the office where he was supposed to deposit the money. Meanwhile, three assailants traveling on a motorcycle intercepted his path, attacked him with weapons, and fled with the cash. The incident occurred around 10:15 PM. The injured man has been identified as Hardeep Singh, who was traveling in a Mahindra Bolero vehicle at the time of the assault.According to the complainant, Shivkaran Singh Bisla, a resident of Gurdev Nagar and a partner in the liquor company, the firm operates around 16 liquor vends. He stated that it was part of the routine for cash collected from different vends to be deposited at the Vishal Nagar office. Police suspect that the accused had prior information regarding the cash movement. Initial investigations suggest that the assailants were following the victim from Phullanwal Chowk. The motorcycle used in the crime allegedly did not have a number plate, making immediate identification difficult.The Dugri police have registered a case under Sections 304 and 3(5) of the BNS and initiated a thorough investigation. CCTV footage from nearby areas is currently being scanned, and multiple police teams have been formed to trace the accused. ACP Satwinder Singh stated that the police are working to identify the suspects and expressed confidence that they will nab them soon. The victim is receiving medical attention for the injuries sustained during the violent late-night encounter.
