Lili Reinhart is all about keeping the true essence of ‘The Love Hypothesis’ in her latest project. The actress will appear as one of the leads in the upcoming film, which has been adapted from the best-selling novel by Ali Hazelwood. In one of her recent interviews, the actress opened up about how she landed the role and how the creators and actors tried their best to keep the main story of the book intact.

‘Forbidden Fruits’ actress Lili Reinhart is once again taking the world by storm as the latest teaser for ‘The Love Hypothesis’ was shared online. Following the release, Reinhart talked to the crowd at the ‘Obsessed Fest Panel,’ where she revealed how she landed the script. PEOPLE reported that the actress revealed she had not read the book by Hazelwood when she received the script.She also added, “The script was brought to me. I hadn’t read the book yet, but as soon as I got the script, I read the script, and then I went and read the book, and then I felt convinced to do it. I wasn’t sure I wanted to do a romantic comedy, but then I was very quickly sold on the idea.” She stars alongside Tom Bateman, who also weighed in about the matter, sharing that he was also unsure about doing a romantic comedy; however, he “read it and just fell in love with the characters and the world.”Talking about what she loved most about the book and working on ‘The Love Hypothesis’, Reinhart added, “I think it felt, as much as it could, like a really timeless romantic comedy. I think that’s what the script was able to feel like for me while still keeping the integrity of both characters and doing the book justice. Obviously, the importance of the book- it’s the source material we wanted to totally respect, [which] I think our writer, Sarah, absolutely did. So yeah, the heart of the book is in the film.”

Reinhart also added that she is well aware of the expectations for the movie and hopes everyone loves it. She concluded, “It’s just been a year of hype buildup. I hope that the book lovers are happy and I hope the people who haven’t read the book are also happy.”Bateman revealed that the two of them put a lot of effort into the project, adding, “I really think it’s really hard when you’re adapting something for film because every single one of you who loves the book has your own idea of what these characters are gonna be like. Every single person involved with this had such a deep love for the book and for doing it justice for everyone that loves it.”
Plot of ‘The Love Hypothesis’
The film, based on Ali Hazelwood’s novel, follows PhD student Olive and her professor, Dr Carlsen, who start a fake relationship to test their theories about falling in love. Besides Reinhart and Bateman, the film also stars Rachel Marsh as Anh, Jaboukie Young-White as Malcolm, Nicholas Duvernay as Jeremy, and Arty Froushan as Tom. The film is slated for release on September 23, 2026 on Prime Video.
