Hazaribag: A 15-year-old boy, Suma Munda, was killed and three others were seriously injured after lightning struck them at Kukurgadha under Danto Kala panchayat in the Katkamsandi police station area of Hazaribag district on Wednesday evening. The injured, Anup Munda (15), Chada Munda (12), and Birsa Munda (9), were taken to Katkamsandi Community Health Centre for treatment.Local residents said the four boys had gone to Kukurgadha to graze goats when the weather suddenly deteriorated. They were struck by lightning during a thunderstorm. Suma died on the spot, while the three others suffered serious injuries.The tragedy has worsened the family’s distress. Suma’s father, Kala Munda, died about three months ago after prolonged illness, leaving his mother and three sons. Relatives and villagers urgedgovt compensation under disaster relief provisions. Katkamsandi OC Anupam Prakash said police sent the body to Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem examination.
