Hisar: The court of Fatehabad’s additional sessions judge and special judge (fast-track court), Amit Garg, sentenced a man to imprisonment till death for raping his nine-year-old grandniece in 2024. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 2 lakh, of which Rs 1 lakh will be given to the survivor.
District attorney Devendra Mittal and assistant district attorney Naveen argued that the accused was previously convicted of raping his stepdaughter and was on bail at the time of the incident. In such circumstances, the accused deserved no mercy. In Dec 2024, based on a complaint by the survivor’s mother, Fatehabad police registered an FIR against her maternal uncle-in-law for raping her daughter. According to the complaint, the accused threatened to kill the girl if she told anyone about his acts.
