Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday spoke to National Conference president Farooq Abdullah, assuring him that a thorough investigation would be conducted into the attempted attack on the veteran leader during a wedding function in Jammu a day earlier.
Top sources told Rising Kashmir that the Lieutenant Governor conveyed his concern over the incident and directed Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat to ensure that the circumstances leading to the security breach are fully investigated.
Senior officials were instructed to leave no stone unturned in establishing how the assailant managed to reach close proximity to Abdullah, who is a Z-plus category protectee, they said.
Sources also said the police chief has also been asked to review the security arrangements of protected persons across the Union Territory and ensure “airtight security” for political leaders and other protectees.
The conversation came hours after Abdullah survived what security officials described as a close-range assassination attempt during a private function in Jammu.
