Jaipur: A leopard that killed a three-year-old girl in Dumoda village was captured by the forest department after a sustained rescue operation in Dumoda, Kailashpuri and adjoining areas of Sawai Madhopur.The leopard had been active in the area for several days, prompting the forest department to launch a surveillance and rescue operation. More than 40 camera traps and cage traps were installed in Dumoda, Kailashpuri and nearby areas to track its movement and capture it safely.A senior official said, “A rescue team was deployed round the clock, while forest officials and staff carried out regular patrolling and surveillance. Assistant conservator of forests Ajay, veterinary officer Chandrakash Meena and range officer Raj Bahadur Meena, along with other forest officials and staff, were involved in the operation.”Following the incident, the department increased security arrangements in the affected area. Deputy conservator of forests and deputy field director, Ranthambore Tiger Reserve-I, Manas Singh, met the affected family and offered condolences. He also inspected the surveillance and rescue arrangements and directed officials to ensure that all safety measures were in place.“The department coordinated with villagers and local representatives to strengthen surveillance and security in the area. Monitoring would continue even after the leopard was captured and appealed to residents to remain alert and cooperate with forest officials,” added the official.
