Prayagraj: An adult male leopard was found dead along National Highway 76 connecting Prayagraj and Mirzapur on Wednesday night. Meja range officer, Ajay Singh, said the animal is suspected to have died after being hit by an unidentified vehicle while attempting to cross the highway. “The information was received from local police, and our team immediately reached the site. The carcass was taken into custody and transported to the Meja range office for further examination,” he said. He added that after conducting a preliminary inspection, the viscera was preserved for further analysis. Subsequently, the last rites of the leopard were performed as per protocol. tnn
